#Trending: 6th Language of Love

By Alex M. Sevilla

Uy, listen to this song.. Ikaw naalala ko nung narinig ko ‘to.”

Gary Chapman’s “The 5 Love Languages” has been all over the internet. It outlines five universal conducts that romantic partners convey and experience love, they are words of affirmation, quality time, physical touch, acts of service, and receiving gifts.

But as a person who relates their feelings and encounters to songs, I really appreciate song recommendations and curated playlists. Thus, I would like to propose including this as the 6th love language.

Songs, as an art form, exist in perpetuity. It’s also a sincere way of expressing one’s mood and emotion. For the spirit of Love Month, we asked around for our colleague’s best love songs:

Bien of TDENakauwi Na by Ang Bandang Shirley

Pwede ka bang puntahan diyan at tabihan

Rose Anne of LegalWhen God Made You by Newsong & Natalie Grant

I wonder what God was thinking
When He created you
I wonder if He knew everything I would need
Because He made all my dreams come true
When God made you
He must have been thinking about me

Mark of TDEYou’re Still the One by Shania Twain

They said, "I bet they'll never make it"
But just look at us holding on
We're still together, still going strong.

Madel of FinanceTunay by Lance Santdas

Kasi ang sarap magmahal ‘pag alam mong tunay

RJ of AMDElectric by Alina Baraz, Khalid

Covered in your water and I'm feelin' like a summer breeze
Submitted under power and you brought me to my knees

Camela of TechnologyRose by D.O

If you need a lover
Let me know and let me in
I could treat you better
Steal you roses everyday
I might not have fancy car
But I fancy you so give me a chance
If you need a lover, baby

I personally love Autotelic’s Languyin from their Papunta Pabalik album.

Mundo ko'y baliktarin, babalik balik ka rin
Tila 'di nauubusan ng hangin at ng paraan
Lamunin man ng alon, handa akong la-la-la-languyin
Tangayin man ng hangin, maligaw handa akong la-la-la-lakbayin
