Strength of a Woman

By Cherry M. Roxas

In today’s time, it’s still not-so-common for women to take interest in the field of sports. It’s truly impressive when a woman showcases her innate ability in this field. And it’s even more amazing when women excel in sports that you wouldn’t expect a woman to engage in.

One of these strong women is our colleague, Ms. Aina B. Canlas. She has been with the company since March 2007, starting as a Toll Teller. By June 2008, she was transferred to Technology Division as an MMS Specialist.

Ms. Aina excel in various sports such as Dodge Ball, Air Soft, Marathon, Mountaineering, Darts, and Biking. She has always be an active participant in our company’s sports events and is a member of the NLEX Sports Club.

Here is Ms. Aina’s inspiring testimony of her sports journey:

I first dipped my toes into the world of sports through playful games with my siblings and friends in the neighborhood. As I grew older, I found myself drawn to the thrill of competition and the camaraderie of being part of a team. That spark ignited a passion that has stayed with me ever since. Through sports, I have learned the importance of hard work, dedication, and pushing past my limits. They’ve molded my character, teaching me resilience in the face of setbacks and the joy of celebrating victories, both big and small.

I found comfort and strength in sports during the most difficult times of my life. Despite facing immense challenges, I drew upon my passion for sports to navigate through the darkness. Seeking a sense of fulfillment and purpose, I turned to sports as a means of escape and self-discovery. Engaging in physical activity allowed me to channel my emotions positively and provided a sense of purpose when everything else seemed uncertain. Through perseverance and dedication, I discovered resilience within myself, emerging stronger and more determined than ever before. In the arena of sports, I found not only an escape but also a pathway to self-growth and fulfillment. Some of my most cherished memories and proudest achievements stem from my experiences in sports, shaping me into the person I am today.

Courage, sacrifice, determination, commitment, toughness, heart, talent, guts. That’s what little girls are made of; the heck with sugar and spice.
