There is a common misconception that many people join fraternities or brotherhoods simply to appear “cool.” A deeper understanding of the true meaning of fraternity reveals its real purpose. This purpose is to foster solidarity and service among individuals. Recognizing this purpose helps us appreciate those who embody the essence of brotherhood. Among them is our very own Toll Operations Manager, Rommel A. Bautista, known to us as “Sir Meng.” He is an active “Kuya” (elder brother) of The Fraternal Order of Eagles – Philippine Eagles Inc. (TFOE-PE Inc.), the first Philippine-born fraternal socio-civic organization. He has been a member since 2021.
Sir Meng’s brotherhood is committed to making a positive impact through various programs and initiatives. They foster a sense of community and civic responsibility. Through these efforts, they strive to support both their members and the broader community in meaningful ways. Their mission is to promote a new vision and approach to humanitarian service within Philippine society. They aim to nationalize these efforts for the maximum benefit and betterment of the community.
Through his stories as a “Kuya,” Sir Meng exemplifies the true purpose of fraternities. He joined this brotherhood, inspired by its advocacy and principles that bind individuals together in unity and mutual support.
“Let’s always prioritize putting God first in everything we do and take time to reflect on our actions. Have I fulfilled my life’s purpose? Have I performed my duties to the best of my ability? Let’s take action now to avoid future regrets.
It is truly rewarding to help people. This is especially true for those who feel hopeless after their homes have been destroyed by fire or typhoon. Providing essential needs after such a catastrophe means a lot to them and renews their hope to continue living. I am also grateful that our club’s financial situation remains secure. We benefit from available funds and contributions. This situation allows us to serve our community in times of need.
As the Chartered President of the Sanib Lahi Ranger Eagles Club under Central Luzon Region No. 24, I am proud of the numerous humanitarian community services we’ve conducted since I joined and became an officer. We have helped communities in various areas across NCR and nearby provinces. For instance, we made donations for typhoon victims in Cavite. We conducted feeding programs in remote areas. We also provided emergency assistance for families affected by house fires. We have also organized outreach programs for students in Pangasinan, providing school supplies, slippers, and grocery packs.” – Sir Meng
Sir Meng has many responsibilities as an NLEX leader. He proactively manages his time. He prioritizes family, work, and his commitment to the brotherhood. His organization is even partnering with NLEX Corp in its social responsibility efforts to preserve our environment through tree planting.
A genuine leader does not rely on a title to earn respect; rather, they earn it through their actions.
