BiyaHero Road Safety Caravan: Leading smart drivers to safer roads for four years

By Linjay Espina

NLEX Corporation expanded its efforts to promote road safety among drivers and transport operators by participating in the Philippine Commercial Vehicle Show, held at the SMX Convention Center Manila, Pasay City, from July 3 to 5, 2025.

As support to NLEX’s current advocacy for Mission Road Safety, the BiyaHero Road Safety Caravan, led by Customer Experience and Marketing (CXM) under Communication and Stakeholder Management (CSM), raised awareness about accident prevention, compliance with traffic rules, and proper vehicle maintenance. The event was attended by over 300 drivers, operators, mechanics, and leaders from various transport organizations.

DOTr Director IV Joshua Joseph R. Rodriguez discussed safe cargo handling and loading procedures, LTO Acting Assistant Secretary Greg Pua Jr. delivered views on traffic enforcement and offenses, while Shell High Risk Transport Road Safety Advisor Edward Tan and AC-1 Transport & Equipment, Inc. Senior Safety Officer Dawny Rubillo talked about journey management risk assessment.

Meanwhile, NLEX Asst. Manager for Environment, Health, and Safety, Dave Bautista, and the NLEX Patrol Team (Eric Cruz and Maike Lacson) discussed driver readiness and handling road emergencies with a safety-first mindset and tollway rules and regulations, respectively.

Besides the learning, interactive simulations such as drunk driving tests and safety-enhanced driving simulators were also placed for the attendees to experience the actual risks associated with driving while intoxicated or preoccupied.

Road accidents are still a problem nationwide. BiyaHero demonstrates the impact of making a difference with strategic action and proper journey planning. NLEX Corporation is strengthening its mission: to create a culture where every Filipino driver is informed, prepared, and safe on the road.
