Stay Focused

Patrellers in Action

By: Jovit D. Caballero

(Stay Focused highlights stories which exemplify the company’s values. For this issue, we will be highlighting “TEAMWORK” as the core value of the month. And who better exemplified this value than our Patrol Crew turned Tellers, a.k.a. “PATRELLERS”.)

When the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) was implemented starting March 16, the number of toll tellers reporting for work drastically dropped from the usual 500  to as low as 56 due to different personal. health and safety concerns. This resulted in the closure and free flow in more than half of NLEX and SCTEX toll lanes, resulting in  losses in revenue.

As shared by the Head of the Operations Division, Ms. West D. Dionisio, the operations team constantly thought of ways of mitigating the impact of this crisis to the company. And with God’s guidance, her team thought of taking advantage of the high number of patrol crews present to assist in toll collection. Hence the idea of “Patrellers” was born, and were deployed starting March 19.

Here are the thoughts and experiences narrated by some of our “Patrellers” :

PC ELMERSON

– ELMERSON GABRIEL

PC EMILIANO

“I chose to volunteer because I know I can be of great help to the company and it would be a great opportunity to learn new things. At first it was difficult but eventually, I became  familiar with the tellering job. By taking this responsibility, the value of volunteerism was manifested and boosted the team as a whole. Teamwork is very crucial to the delivery of quality service.”

– EMILIANO CASTILLO, JR.

PC BALATBAT

“I want to help the company and the motorists by  performing beyond my task.

– DON ERICK BALATBAT

PC Christopher

“Since our company has been generous with the employees, I realized na ito ang aking way to pay back kahit na challenge ang pagpasok sa dami ng checkpoints. Medyo mangangapa ka talaga sa una, matatakot na ma-short, pero na-enjoy din naman namin, at the end of the day. I was just trained for 2 hours, but it went well.

– ALLAN DOLLETE

PC CHRISTOPHER IGNACIO

“When I saw the message from our boss, I felt the sincerity. I went for it without any hesitation. I thought it was difficult, but because of our guide tellers, we didn’t have a hard time doing the job. During these times, naisip ko kung gaano kalaki ang nawawala kay NLEX, at malaki ang ginagampanan na sakrispisyo ng bawat isa to support our company.”

– CHRISTOPHER IGNACIO

PC RYAN

“I volunteered to show my love and care towards the company. We possess different talents, knowledge and skills, but with cooperation and the right support from different departments, we can get through this.”

– RYAN RIVERA

In appreciation of these Patrol Crew’s dedication to work and selflessness, Ms. West posted  her message of gratitude on the Northloop Facebook page:

Ms. West added, “Suntok sa buwan talaga yung plan. I did not expect that they will heed the call for help, just the fact that they are willing to be trained and take the responsibility were really more than enough. March 19 is one of my best days sa company – that day made me realize na ang daming taong nagmamalasakit sa kompanya. I am really proud to be part of this team! Kaya natin ito! NLEX ako! Nag-iingat at nagsisilbi!”.
