There’s something special about the aroma of freshly brewed coffee — the warmth, the comfort, and the craftsmanship behind every cup. Last October 3, 2025, the NLEX Training Room was filled with that very aroma as we hosted our Coffee and Barista Workshop, an engaging event open to 35 employees and/ or their relatives.

The workshop wasn’t just about making coffee; it was about bringing people together, learning new skills, and discovering the art and science behind every perfect brew.

From Bean to Cup: Learning the Craft

Participants began their coffee journey by exploring where coffee comes from: learning about its origins, how beans are harvested, and what makes each variety unique. With guidance from skilled instructors, attendees got hands-on experience with the fundamentals of espresso preparation, from grinding and tamping to pulling the perfect shot.

The session gave everyone a deeper appreciation for the delicate balance of precision and creativity that goes into every cup.

Beyond the techniques and the caffeine buzz, what truly made the event memorable was the sense of community. Employees and their family members bonded over shared experiences — tasting, experimenting, and celebrating small victories with every successful pour.

By the end of the session, participants not only gained new barista skills, but also a deeper appreciation for the craft and culture of coffee. The workshop reminded everyone that coffee isn’t just a beverage — it’s a ritual, a connector, and a conversation starter.

The Coffee and Barista Workshop was a delightful blend of learning and enjoyment — proof that great things can happen when we combine curiosity, creativity, and a good cup of coffee.
