BTS of NLEX Caloocan Espana Section Inauguration

By Monchi Ampil

Last March 27, NLEX inaugurated the Caloocan Espana Section of NLEX Connector Road. This is the 1st section of the said infrastructure which will eventually connect to Skyway Stage 3 once completed.

The event was led and attended by His Excellency, President of the Republic of the Philippines, Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. He was joined by DPWH Secretary Manny Bonoan and DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista. MPIC and MPTC Officials are also in attendance led by our Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan, MPTC President and CEO Rodrigo Franco, and NLEX President and General Manager, J. Luigi Bautista.

Here are some photos (from my perspective) of the behind-the-scenes of the event.

Arrived at 5 am with fellow employees who are also part of the project and program.
PBBM arrived at around 9am and has a ceremonial drive and ribbon cutting before proceeding to the event proper.
The event was also attended by Manila Mayor, Honey Lacuna, Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto, San Juan Mayor, Francis Zamora, and Quezon City Mayor, Joy Belmonte.

A part of PBBM’s speech included the recognition of the efforts put into the project, and how NLEX Connector would be beneficial to commerce and motorists of the country.  In his words:

“This is indeed another achievement and undoubtedly will significantly improve the mobility of people, of goods, of services, not only within Metro Manila but also within its environs,

“We will not stop here. We will continue to develop a highly interconnected road network that will facilitate our country’s rapid, inclusive, and sustained economic growth,”

It was indeed a successful event and inauguration. This wouldn’t be possible without the men and women of NLEX, who surely will be inspired to do more and be part of an organization that is part of the country’s nation-building. Go Team NLEX!
