Disease Control Management is one of the most important aspects in improving employee health. Through integrated care, we can improve the health condition of our employees by identifying and treating diseases to prevent complications. Disease Control Management is one of the aspects how NLEX intends to improve the health of its employees.
As a first step, NLEX identified the population group who will benefit from a disease management program. The pertinent findings of thorough examination and laboratory procedures can give an initial overview of the medical conditions of employees. Based on the latest Annual Physical Examination of employees, it was found that 6% of the employees have Diabetes Mellitus (DM).
Diabetes Mellitus is a group of metabolic disorders characterized by a high blood sugar level over a prolonged period of time. If left untreated, it can lead to serious long-term complications including cardiovascular disease, stroke, chronic kidney disease, foot ulcers, damage to the nerves, damage to the eyes, and cognitive impairment. A combination of lifestyle changes and medical treatments can prevent high sugar levels.
In response to the employee health threat that is diabetis NLEX launched the “Cut the Sugar” program this July 2022. It aims to encourage employees with DM conditions to participate in the program to improve their health condition and educate them about managing their disease and receiving proper care. The identified employees are invited for initial interview, initial lab testing, counseling, and one on one consultations with our doctors. This way, the burden of suffering may be decreased, if not prevented. The program will run for two months in collaboration with the Clinic Team.
Too much added sugar may put you at higher risk, so cut the sugar now!
