ICARE for Wellness: Unleashing the Spirit of Teamwork, Camaraderie, and Sportsmanship

“Building Teamwork, Camaraderie, and Sportsmanship” is the theme of this year’s I-CARE for Wellness tournament which was recently opened last October 18, 2022, at the Teamwork Basketball court. The tournament is part of Onelife’s initiatives in promoting the health and wellness of MPTC employees.

The tournament is comprised of Basketball Men & Women, Volleyball Men & Women, and Executive 3×3. There are 3 teams to represent NLEX Corporation, MPT South Corporation, and MPT Mobility / MPTDSI. The parade was attended by all the athletes, coaches, and team muses from the 3 teams.

Hosted by HRAD Talent engagement manager Macky Vitug, the Oath of Sportsmanship was led by Gines Barrot, Drivehub Operations AVP, together with all the athletes from the 3 teams representing the ICARE colors – Red, Orange, and Turquoise.

The tournament was officially opened by the MPTC President & CEO, Mr. Rodrigo Franco. In his welcome address, he said that the theme of this year’s tournament, “Teamwork, Camaraderie, and Sportsmanship”, are iCARE values. “These are important and helpful not only for our business, but also for our employees,” he added. He also mentioned the importance of health and wellness of employees.

To keep the excitement going, 3 muses from each team added more color and fun, with cheers from their respective teams. Ms. Carla Marcelo represented NLEX Corporation. Ms. Akiko Malonzo and Ms.  Jeanelle Velasquez represented MPT South and MPT Mobility / MPTDSI, respectively.  

NLEX Corporation brought home several wins in both men’s and women’s categories. During the finals last October 27, NLEX Corporation was awarded as the overall champion for this year’s iCARE FOR WELLNESS tournament.

ICARE for Wellness tournament improves motivation and productivity while encouraging team members to cooperate and work together effectively.  When everyone is contributing their best, it sets the tone for a positive work culture. It also helps in bringing forward the real talents of employees. Celebrating with one another truly unleashed the spirit of teamwork, camaraderie, and sportsmanship leading employees to embrace the ICARE values.

She feels connected to people every time she participates in different activities. While having a busy schedule, she finds ways to take a break from the grind to relax and unwind by traveling. She values the memories with her friends too, for her, having a friend is a treasure in this world that must be preserved.
