The first section of the NLEX-SLEX Connector Road Project is bound to be operational by next month, as announced by NLEX Corporation President and General Manager Mr J. Luigi Bautista.
The Caloocan to Espana segment of the project is currently more than 90% complete. This will be a 5-kilometer extension of expressway from NLEX Harbor Link Caloocan Interchange in C3 Road to Espana in Manila.
NLEX-SLEX Connector Road Project is an 8-kilometer all elevated expressway project and submitted as an unsolicited proposal to the Department of Public Works and Highways by NLEX Corporation. The Project terminus will be the connection with Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 in Sta Mesa, Manila.
The project aims to service around 35,000 motorists per day by providing 24/7 unimpeded route to and from Central Luzon, Northern Luzon, and Metro Manila. This new expressway will enhance travel between international airports which are the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and the Clark International Airport. In addition, cargo industry will have much easier access to trading hubs in Central and Northern Luzon without accessing the busy local roads of Metro Manila.
The construction of the project commenced in May 2019 and with the target completion in 2023.
