QUEZON CITY – Last February 19, NLEX Corporation conducted the Road Traffic Safety (RTS) Forum. The event aimed at discourse on recent road safety updates. It also focused on programs to keep the stretch of the expressways safe for road users. It was attended by the NLEX MANCOM members, OIC and CFO Ms. Tet Wells, CSM Vice President, Ms. Donna Marcelo, and Operations Vice President, Ms. West Dionisio. Key representatives from Traffic Operations, Toll Operations, and Asset Management joined them. Representatives from Engineering Services, CSM, Treasury, Risk, and Insurance Management (TRIM), and Human Resources Administration were also present. SAVVICE Corporation, the service provider for fleet management, participated as well.

Engr. Arse John Salison, from the Intelligent Transport System Laboratory of the University of the Philippines – National Center for Transportation Studies (UP-NCTS), was the guest speaker for the event. He discussed the national status of road safety. He also covered the global status of road safety. He also discussed the initiatives that address road traffic safety challenges. Engr. Shiela Javier, also from UP-NCTS, shared her invaluable input on road safety metrics and data analysis. This allowed the participants to discover methods to support their programs.



As part of the event, organizers presented and discussed 2024 Road Traffic Safety Data. They pitched action plans to solve top risks such as speeding, fatigue driving, and unrestrained driving. Other risks included dilapidated vehicles, domestic animal carriageway intrusion, and motorcycle driving behavior. Each department involved in RTS presented its programs supporting the 3Es: Enforcement, Education, and Engineering. They exhibited their unwavering efforts to sustain the safety of the motorists.

RTS Forum is a bi-annual event organized by the Compliance and Business Excellence (CBE) department. It serves as a platform for stakeholders to share knowledge and develop action plans. The forum promotes programs aimed at creating a safer road environment for all users. This initiative is part of NLEX Corporation’s commitment. It supports the United Nations’ five (5) pillars of Road Safety. It also strives for continual improvement toward the ISO 39001 Road Traffic Safety Management System.
