An online talk show was successfully held last September 9 as the CSM Division’s Government Relations Department organized the 2nd run of this year’s Soundbites titled “Bagong Laban ni Eba – Stories of First Woman Mayors.”

NLEX Soundbites features Guiguinto, Bulacan Mayor Agay Cruz and San Fernando, Pampanga Mayor Vilma Caluag who are both first elected woman mayors of their respective LGUs.

Hosted by Julius Segovia and Cecille Villarosa, the talk show aired live on our NLEX Corporation Facebook Page.

Ms. Tet Wells, NLEX Corporation Chief Financial Officer, delivered her opening message to formally start the program. “Congratulations po sa inyong matagumpay na paglaban nung nakaraang election, both of you made your mark as first elected woman mayors in your respective LGUs, as such, we can call it a record-breaking win and one that is very inspiring for us women.”

The mayors talked about their plans and programs for their respective LGUs, their leadership styles, and their thoughts about women empowerment.

In her message, Mayor Vilma talked about how her family and being a woman strengthened her to fulfill her role as a mayor.

As for her plans and programs for the City of San Fernando, Mayor Vilma said, “Ang priority po namin ngayon is the universal health care. Patapos na ngayon ang Dialysis Center as promised. Ito po ay ipinagmamalaki namin sa inyo na hindi gumastos ang siyudad, ni kusing walang nilabas ang City, nakuha natin siya ng libre lahat.

For Mayor Agay’s part, the attorney shared her personal vision to make the municipality the happiest place for a child to grow up as she wants the best for the Municipality of Guiguinto.

She also shared her plans and programs of focusing on the grassroots problems of society before stepping up to the next level.

“Mostly, naka-focus po ako ngayon sa mga proyekto na mararamdaman sa community, mga pag-improve ng mga kalye, pagpapailaw ng mga daan, investment on projects to mitigate floods, pagsasaayos ng mga kanal. Siyempre, investments din para sa health care and education sectors and then later on kapag maganda na yung sa basic natin, then we can progress to bigger things.”

With programs like Soundbites, we will be able to engage and develop our relationships with our stakeholders and build valuable partnerships.

Together, let’s create programs that would build trustworthy and reliable relationships with our stakeholders.
