Onelife is not just about physical wellness — it’s a holistic program designed to help NLEX employees enhance various aspects of their lives, with a special focus on financial wellness. On July 23, 2025, Onelife hosted a financial wellness talk titled “Unlocking Active Income Through Entrepreneurship” at Sequoia Hotel in Quezon City.

Did you know that many employees consider starting a business either post-retirement or as a parallel income stream — but often don’t know where to begin?

To help bridge this gap, NLEX invited renowned speaker Mr. Melvin Esteban, the first and only Filipino recipient of the Young ASEAN Manager Award (YAMA) in Kuala Lumpur. With over 28 years of experience in the financial services industry, Mr. Esteban has worked in fund management, marketing, product development, strategic business development, profit center management, and workplace learning and development.

As a forward-looking organization, NLEX is committed to equipping employees with the entrepreneurial knowledge and tools they need to succeed. This initiative not only supports personal financial growth but also strengthens the company’s commitment to long-term employee well-being.

The 51 participants across divisions were empowered to explore business opportunities, understand startup fundamentals, and develop strategies for building sustainable income through self-employment. Whether they’re interested in pursuing a side hustle, transitioning into business ownership, or preparing for retirement, this session provided a practical roadmap — from idea to execution.

Mr. Esteban shared valuable insights on the benefits of entrepreneurship, the essential steps in setting up a business, effective strategies for success, and best practices drawn from real-world scenarios.
