A Trip for the Heart

by Khate Sabado

‘Tis the season of love once again and what better way to celebrate it than by taking your loved one out on a date somewhere memorable and breathtaking. However, with the ongoing pandemic, there are still restrictions on where and when to travel.

Barely a year since the lockdown started, people have been going out again and revisiting places they have long missed. Now armed with facemasks, face shields, and alcohol, and practicing safety health protocols, they have started to discover what has become of the scenic spots showcasing the beauty of Mother Nature who has long breathed and recovered from all the hustle and bustle.

Here are some recommended places to visit with your significant other and things to remember when you go there.

DRT (Dona Remedios Trinidad), Bulacan

“There is no need to go far and visit other provinces just yet since we are not sure of the travel requirements, which was why we opted to go to DRT.  A two-hour ride with friends and my wife, we discovered a waterfall that has yet to be given a name in DRT.  It is a respite from the busy life we have and a chance to seize the moment to enjoy nature with loved ones and friends.”  – Rider Michael Caliuag, Traffic Operations

Lambingan Hills. Brgy. Cuyambay, Tanay, Rizal

“Going to Lambingan Hills would cost you an entrance fee of P50 for day trip and P150 for an overnight stay.  You also need to present a medical certificate at the checkpoint and wear your facemask all the time. You can pitch your own tent, rent one, or stay at their ready-made kubo with no electricity, no WiFi signal, no distractions from the online world. It offers a fresh, clean and romantic view.”  – Patrol Officer Ar-Jhay Pillado, Traffic Operations

A lot of people go there especially during weekends.  Nonetheless, you could patiently wait for your turn to take pictures or just find a spot of your “own.  Beside the view, it is the company that makes the Lambingan Hills a heart charmer.  Since we were attending a family gathering in Rizal, we took this opportunity to spend some quality time together not only as a couple but also as a family.  We had to trek one kilometer to reach Lambingan Hills.  We didn’t have to worry about food and accommodation since it was available in the area.  I recommend the place not only for couples but for families as well.” – Patrol Officer Rodel Mabunga, Traffic Operations

Narra Hills, Laurel, Batangas

“Approximately two-and-a-half-hour drive from Bulacan, I made an advance booking at Narra Hills resort for a two-day and one-night getaway with my wife. Away from the kids and work, we treated ourselves to the inviting infinity pool, majestic view, and chilly fresh air like newlyweds on their honeymoon. Overlooking the resort was SkyRanch Tagaytay where we were also able to try the 300-meters zipline. We really felt de-stressed and rejuvenated after this escapade.” – Investigator Noel Joseph Dela Cruz, Traffic Operations
