Mark of Excellence:  Certification, Qualification, Recognition

The ‘E’ in CITIES stands for Excellence, which is my favorite among our core values.  I favor it because I believe that with Excellence all other values follow, namely, Customer Satisfaction, Integrity, Teamwork, Innovation, and Social Responsibility.

Taking a stroll down memory lane, the NLEX family has brought time and again bursts of Excellence to our company.  

In 2015, NLEX Corporation garnered certifications from the International Organization of Standards for our Quality Management System (ISO 9001), Environmental Management (ISO 14001), and Occupational Health and Safety (ISO 45001).  Since then, we have been issued annual recertifications attesting to our consistent compliance to these international standards. 

This year, overcoming the challenges brought by the pandemic, our efforts have not faltered in coveting yet another certification, the Road Traffic Safety (ISO 39001).  This is timely and necessary if we are to scale up and take on the prospective growth of our toll road business.  This would be a qualification most befitting a toll road company. 

In 2019, we achieved the gold certification from the Investors in People (IIP), an international organization that set the standards in people management.  This recognizes the valuable mix of talent, motivation and leadership qualities of the people behind NLEX.   Because of this certification, in 2020, NLEX was awarded Employer of the Year.

In 2016 to 2020, we have, without fail, been awarded Silver and Gold in the Anvil Awards for our Public Relations Programs on publications, programs directed at specific stakeholders, corporate social responsibility, and issues management.  

With the life-changing pandemic years, I believe there would be more stories to tell, more content to write about, and more creativity in this era of digital medium of publication to experiment with. 

Within our home court, there are programs that recognize team and individual Excellence  as well.  One such program is the NLEXemplary Awards that started in 2020.  This is held quarterly and annually to provide an opportunity to thank and reward the hard work and dedication of those who have been qualified in delivering excellent service to our customers and stakeholders. 

Another is the Excellence Service Awards held annually by the company.  This rewards and recognition event provides an avenue for the company to celebrate those who have spent years in the service of the company.  Here, we pronounce each of their achievements and successes. 

While much have been said and achieved, we still have a long way to go.  The NLEX mission and vision have yet to be fulfilled.  There is still so much to conquer.  The secret behind these marks of Excellence are all of us, you and me, who are service oriented and passionate about what our purpose is.

As we embark on new territories and transformation in our organization, we bring Excellence with us, to NLEX, to others, every day.  We will continue to do so, leaving marks of Excellence along the way.
