NLEX 2Q Performance Review

Last August 3, 2021, the Technology Division hosted the 2nd Quarter Performance Review via StreamYard and Zoom Webinar. The need to focus on strategic priorities was highlighted and the action plans for the rest of 2021.

In the face of challenges arising from the COVID-19 public health crisis, the company has determined which critical areas need more attention.

The following are the priority areas of NLEX:

Health and Welfare of our People. The company needs people to run its day-to-day operations. Therefore, the health and welfare of all employees must be protected at all times. This is a core priority area because everything else is possible only if the employees are in good health. One of the latest efforts in this area is the COVID-19 Employee Vaccination Program.

Elevate Customer Experience. To ensure friction-free transactions with our customers, we have continue to improve our processes in Traffic and Toll Management Operations. We are also paying close attention to the work being done on Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) and Stakeholder Management.

Maintain Financial Stability and Sustainability. The company makes sure that it is financially fit by keeping an eye on its cash flow, cost of operations, and capital expenditure. The Business continuity Management System and the sustainability of its projects and processes are also considered. When it comes to financial transactions with customers, NLEX makes sure that Toll Rate Implementation, as well as Leakage Management and Enforcement Initiatives are done right.

Accelerate Digital Transformation. The company is fully embracing digital initiatives with the implementation of Electronic Toll Collection (ETC), the use of Modified Barrier-up, and improving its digital infrastructure with Oracle’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Human Capital Management (HCM) systems.

Future Proof the Business. NLEX wants to be ready for the future. It has several projects lined up for completion in the next few years such as the Connector Road Section 1 and 2; Segment 8.2 Section 1A; and the Candaba Viaduct Technical Study. It is also completing its repair works.

NLEX President and General Manager J. Luigi Bautista’s closing remarks for this performance review emphasized the need for a clear plan for all the company’s endeavors. He noted that we can choose our own paths. We could be in a labyrinth—going round and round while trying to not be defeated by challenges. We can also choose to move forward as we try our best to rise above our challenges. It’s clear enough which path can get us to where we want to be.
