NLEX ROW Team Continues Operations Amid Pandemic
by Alex Sevilla
The NLEX Right-of-Way (ROW) Team – in collaboration with the Public-Private Partnership Services ROW Task Force of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – was able to continue its acquisition and relocation activities to ensure the timely completion of the NLEX-SLEX Connector Road and Segment 8.2 – Mindanao to Quirino (Section 1A) projects despite the activity-crippling pandemic.
For the Connector Road Project, the team maintains close coordination with different utility providers — such as Meralco, PLDT, and others — to facilitate the utility relocation along the alignment.
Meanwhile, the tree-counting activities for the NLEX Segment 8.2 Section 1A Project commenced in preparation for the clearing and grubbing works.
For its part, the NLEX Community Relations Team facilitates the swab testing of individuals who are qualified for relocation. The team also performs joint area validation with representatives of the National Housing Authority (NHA), the Local Inter-Agency Committee (LIAC), and the local government units (LGUs) of affected barangays along the alignment of the projects.
The NLEX ROW Team conducts weekly internal meetings to strategize issues and concerns related to right-of-way acquisition. These are elevated to the government Implementing Office to expedite ROW delivery amid the pandemic.
Whether at site or at the office, the united team continually works for NLEX.
The NLEX-SLEX Connector Road – Caloocan to España (Section 1) is targeted to be operational in December 2021 whereas the NLEX Segment 8.2 Section 1A is expected to be operational sometime in the second quarter of 2022.
Kudos to our NLEX ROW Team!
