No other better way to cap the past year by revisiting some of the #Trending of 2022.

January 2022

The year started with COVID-19 cases surging to more than 39,000 new confirmed cases per day, attributed to the Omicron variant of the virus. This has disrupted the efforts of the government and the community to gradually lift restrictions due to the pandemic. Offices, businesses, and some schools suspended operations and opted to go back to online setup.

The surge has encouraged everyone to have their vaccines and boosters shots to prevent the detrimental effects of COVID-19.

February 2022

This viral clip from Tawag ng Tanghalan circulated the social media as the contestant, Querubin Llavore, celebrated her win at It’s Showtime singing competition segment. After realizing that the camera was focused on her tears of joy, Querubin suddenly had her wacky pose and then resumed crying again.

March 2022

The world witnessed one of the most shocking events of 2022 during the 2022 Oscars awards.

The reaction from Will Smith was prompted by a joke made by Chris Rock referencing Smith’s wife’s shaved head. Jada Pinkett Smith has been candid about her alopecia, an autoimmune condition that causes the immune system to attack hair follicles and leads to hair loss.

Will Smith has been banned from attending the Oscars gala and other Academy events for 10 years due to the incident.

April 2022

Following the success of the television series The Broken Marriage Vow, social media influencer AC offered his version of Dr. Jill Ilustre.

AC has also impersonated other characters including Maya dela Rosa from Be Careful with my Heart, Amor Powers from Pangako Sa ‘Yo, and more.

We can say that the May 2022 Presidential and Elections has been one of the tensest events in the modern Philippine History. From the campaign period to post elections results, anxiety and distress was experienced by a lot of us. Of course, as Filipinos, we use humor and wit to cope:

June 2022

The Golden State Warriors won the 2022 NBA Finals championship series against the Boston Celtics. The NBA Finals returned to its usual June schedule for the first time after the COVID-19 pandemic. The Warriors had their fourth title in eight seasons, the first team to accomplish this feat since the Michael Jordan-era Chicago Bulls.

July 2022

After 2 years of online classes, the Department of Education pushed for face-to-face classes. The department urged all schools to conduct in-person classes several days in a week and online classes for the rest, promoting blended learning.

August 2022

FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano ended its 7-year run, airing its final episode last 12 August 2022.

Ang Probinsyano memes are not new to Pinoy netizens. The 7-year teleserye gave its viewers a nostalgic feeling as it has become a part of their lives.

September 2022

Queen Elizabeth II was the queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 1952 until her death this year. Her 70-year reign was the longest of any British monarch and the longest reign of a female monarch in history. The crown was succeeded by his son, King Charles III.

October 2022

Diehard Aldub nation stunned the online world as this video circulated in the internet during their gathering.

Aldub is the love team of Alden and Maine hailed from the blockbuster kalyeserye on Eat Bulaga in 2015.

December 2022

The yearly meme that Uniqlo Uniform takes another shape this year.
